An overall very exciting project visualising Cologne during its time under the Roman Empire (CCAA).
Besides researching and modeling some of Colognes roman-architecture the challenge here was to model very high-polygonal Stonework. The fact of multiple very close camera-flybys and the idea about the level of detail needed in the final shots made a realisation with only bump-/displacement maps impossible.
Therefore the usage of “Railclone” to realise those stonework shots was essential. Huge benefits of this workflow is, that its fairly fast/easy to adjust stonework on every imaginable shape/form and size of wall.
Highpoly stonework in this project can be seen in the “Flottencastell”, the “Köln-Dietz Fortress” as well as in the cities portals and towers.
